VRT, Czech High-Speed Lines (HSL) are the future transport backbone of RS (Fast Connections) system in the Czech Republic. HSL will enable significantly faster travel across the Czech Republic and Europe. Explore the overall Fast Connections plan, check particular High-Speed Lines and view detailed maps of each section.

RS = FC / Fast Connections
VRT = HSL / High-Speed Lines

Fast Connections / RS are defined as the operational and infrastructural system of rapid railways within Czech territory. In addition to the new High-Speed Lines, they also include lines modified for speeds up to 200 km/h and other upgraded conventional lines with speeds up to 160 km/h.

High-Speed Lines / VRT are therefore an integral part of Fast Connections. They are currently expected to have a maximum operating speed of 320 km/h.

The proposed line service would allow high-speed trains to use not only the high-speed lines, but also, due to the system of interconnections and exits, modernised conventional infrastructure as well.

We are Preparing these Particular Sections of High-Speed Lines:

  • RS 1 VRT Praha – Brno – Ostrava
  • RS 2 VRT Brno – Břeclav
  • RS 4 VRT Praha – Ústí nad Labem – Dresden
  • RS 5 VRT Praha – Hradec Králové / Pardubice – Wroclaw

As you see, the preparation of High-Speed Lines is already in full swing. We will start construction of the first section of the High-Speed Lines in the twenties, we will be operating the first sections of the High-Speed Lines in the thirties, and the entire Fast Connections system will be completed by 2050.
