This HSL section will speed up trains on the Prague to Brno route to about 1 hour and 45 minutes. The line will thus bring benefits even before the completion of the HSL in the Czech Republic. VRT Vysočina (HSL Highlands) is part of what will be the busiest VRT Praha – Brno.
The section will include the Brno-Vídeňská stop, which, much like the Praha východ VRT and Jihlava VRT stations, will bring the High-Speed Railway closer to residents of the region, who will be able to avoid the city centre on their way to the High-Speed train. There will be a stop Velká Bíteš on the new line to Osová Bítýška and trains will run directly from Brno to Velké Meziříčí thanks to a new connection at Křižanov.
VRT Will Include Several Connections to the Conventional Railway Network:
- In the direction Osová Bítýška, for permanent operation of long-distance trains serving the northern part of the Vysočina Region, temporarily also for other trains between Prague and Brno
- In the direction of Modřice, for permanent operation of selected international commercial trains, for emergency use in case of unexpected occurrences and for maintenance of the line
