VRT, Czech High-Speed Lines

VRT project, the construction of Czech High-Speed Lines (HSL) is key to the development of transport infrastructure in the Czech Republic. It ushers in an era of travel at a completely different speed and dimension. It will also contribute to overall economic development.

Summary of Key Benefits

ilustrace Time Savings
Speeds of up to 320 km/h will significantly shorten commutes, bring distant places closer and save you time on journeys in the Czech Republic and elsewhere in Europe.

Higher Capacity of Current Lines
The HSL backbone network will connect the whole country, relieve pressure on existing lines and enable the development of regional transport. Trains will run far more frequently and reliably.

ilustrace Regional Support and Development
HSL will improve commutes and bring new economic opportunities to local regions. This will make life much easier for their residents.

Sustainability
Respect for cityscape and countryside, set in keeping with nature and the surroundings. Up to 7 times less energy consumption and CO2 generation compared to automobile transport.

Travelling Will Change Completely

There are many advantages to High-Speed Lines. But the main thing is that as part of the Fast Connections (RS) scheme, HSL provides a new transport backbone that fundamentally changes the face of public transport. High-speed trains will connect to further transport, including ordinary trains, buses and municipal transport. The design of the HSL infrastructure also takes into account the fact that many users of high-speed railway will arrive at the HSL terminal by car or bicycle.

Speed

Maximum speed
of up to
320 km/h.

VRT, Czech HSL combined
with conventional lines
will strongly improve
connections among regions.

Availability

Prague, Brno or Ostrava
will be less
an hour´s ride
from most parts of the country.

At least
75 % of the population
will have High-Speed Railway
less than 20 minutes away.

Easy Travel

More trains
and fewer delays.

New lines will ensure
additional long-distance
transport capacity and
free up current tracks for
for regional trains.

Everything Will be Much Closer

In many parts of Europe, HSL have been part of everyday life for decades. High-speed trains reach speeds of over 300 km/h, making them competitive with air travel over medium distances. The planned operating speed in the Czech Republic is 320 km/h. And within 10 years we will see the first complete section of high-speed railway.
