The new line will shorten journey times on the Brno – Břeclav line for both regional and long-distance trains, because after completion of the VRT/HSL, long-distance trains will be moved onto it, freeing up the existing line for the development of suburban and regional service.

The line route and technical solution is adapted to the needs of the NATURA 2000 protected area at Vranovice forest. A 1,350-metre section of elevated track has been designed for the area so that the site will encroach as little as possible on a protected and environmentally valuable area. South of Rakvice, the existing line will be modernised for speeds of 200 km/h. Both structures will form a complete solution.
